We are traveling to Hampi in search of solitude and we hope to seek it amidst the ruins of the ancient Vijayanagara empire, a sleepy river and the magnificent boulders. Over the years, Hampi has developed significant features on either sides of the Tungabhadra river - while one is rich with a historic glow, the other basks in a hippie wildness. Join us to explore this Hampiness!
We take a bus to Hospet in the evening from our respective cities. You can join us from either Bengaluru or Mumbai. We will be taking a bus out of these cities in the evening (6:30 pm latest for Bombay and 9:30 pm latest for Bengaluru) and the journey will be an overnight journey in an AC volvo bus.
Once we reach Hospete, we take a tuk tuk to the hotel. Rest for a bit until lunch and set out to explore the Hippie side of the town today. We walk through the paddy fields and bike around sleepy villages. This day involves swimming in a natural lake, probably cliff diving into it (At your own risk of course), lazing around on fields, eating the most scrumptious meals, sipping on unlimited nariyal paanis and basically living the chill life. Evenings in the Hippie Island, are nothing short of spectacular. We collect musical instruments from a shop in the main market area and head up a boulder to witness the most spectacular sunset ever. As the sun goes down, join us as we make music with the locals and other travelers in this beautiful land!
Our day starts early today as we set out for a fun session of bouldering. Some of you may want to skip bouldering and try your hand at Yoga. After a charged morning, we head for breakfast and then to the temple side for exploring Hampi's past. We walk through the landscape to explore temples dating back to early 7 CE. The carvings, stories and mysteries of the ancient Vijayanagara empire set amidst the the boulder clad surrounding will stun you. As our experts take you through the stories of each structure, you are bound to get lost in times of the past. Today, we catch yet another spectacular sunset on the Matanga Hill. It is a little hike of about 30 mins to the top, but the views are all worth it!!!
Our day starts lazy. Most people opt for a traditional massage today. You could do so too or alternatively, head for a swim in the river/ lake. In the afternoon, we check out of our guesthouses and head to the temple side for lunch and some shopping. We will also visit the famous Virupaksha temple today. This evening, we catch our buses from hospet to take us back to the cities.
After an overnight journey, our bus pulls into Bombay and the tour ends. Head back home with a bunch of memories and new friends for life!
