Once you meet us in Guwahati at 10:00 am, we proceed to Bhalukpong. Today we will be crossing over from Assam to Arunachal Pradesh and staying in the fringes of Assam's national parks, at Bhalukpong. If time and rapids permit, you can also go rafting today and witness the white waters of Arunachal's roaring Kameng river. Overnight in Bhalukpong!

Our journey into the highlands officially begins today. We embark on a long road trip to Dirang - Sangti Valley - a region best known as Arunachal's best kept secret. Full of fruit - vegetable plantations, this village is truly mesmerising. A glimmering, crystal clear river flows right through the verdant green landscape. With prayer flags fluttering, clouds floating by, the old iron bridge swaying in the wind, this village will remind you of your childhood paintings - simple and picturesque!

Today we will be exploring Sangti Valley - a region best known as Arunachal's best kept secret. Full of fruit - vegetable plantations, this village is truly mesmerizing. A glimmering, crystal clear river flows right through the verdant green landscape. With prayer flags fluttering, clouds floating by, the old iron bridge swaying in the wind, this village will remind you of your childhood paintings - simple and picturesque! Today, we will also visit Mandala top - a picturesque site with fluttering prayer flags and memorial stupas.

After an early breakfast, we leave for Tawang. This 5 odd hour journey will be interspersed with sufficient breaks. Today we will be crossing the Sela Pass at a whopping 4170 m above sea level. Here we will also stop by the Sela Lake for some photo-ops. We will also pay respects at the war memorials enroute. After lunch, we visit the Jang Waterfalls - a breathtaking, high altitude, plunge fall. Once we reach Tawang, we rest and relax till the evening.

Explore Tawang - After a leisurely breakfast today, we head to walk around the town. We start our day with exploring the iconic Tawang monastery. The Galden Namgyal Lhastse monastery is a whole different world within itself. Its gigantic structure covers a whole hill and no wonder, it is one of the largest Tibetan monastic institutions outside of Tibet. As we explore the shrines and houses here, we will realize that the world is so starkly different from our urban lives. After this truly humbling experience we head to the War Memorial and if time permits, to the nunnery too.

Visit to the Bumla Pass - China Border is one of the must visits when you come to Tawang. We will be trading our vehicle for the local Tawang transport today and heading deep into the hills. While the drive to Bumla is short (about 1.5 hours), the various lakes on the route will urge you to stop over, take some pictures or simply chill. It is a peaceful drive through snow kind of a day and it will be breathtaking (needless to say since you are also ascending a considerable height) We will also try to visit the Gurudwara today enroute, said to be a point where Guru Nanak ji stopped over during his tour of the world. Once we reach Bumla Pass (at a whopping altitude 4600 mts) we will walk to the China Border (if permitted) The Indo-China border opening strictly depends on the political relations with the two countries at the time and also the weather conditions. If there is extreme snow/low visibility on that day, due to security reasons, permission won't be granted to the LAC (Line of Actual Control). After we visit the Bumla Border, we head back to Tawang. Enroute we will also stop over at the Sangetsar lake popularly known as Madhuri lake after the song from Koyla movie.

We wake up late to the sweet fragrance of fresh air in Tawang. What a great way to spend the first day of the year high up in these hills. Once done with breakfast, we begin our journey back to the base and as we do that we will be stopping enroute in some interesting villages, view points, bridges, waterfalls etc. We reach the quaint town of Bomdila today and explore the town on foot. With clouds floating over its mountains, brightly colored houses, a stunning monastery and the loveliest people, Bomdila is the perfect goodbye to Arunachal Pradesh. We will be staying with a local family here tonight!

Kaziranga awaits us today and we start our journey back to the base after breakfast in Bomdila. Once we reach Kaziranga, it is time to witness the spectacular show of colors at the orchid park. If lucky, we can also catch the evening song-dance performances here. We retire early tonight so as to ensure we wake up in time for the sunrise jeep safari at the national park!

Post breakfast, we leave for Guwahati. Drop to the Airport. Tour ends.
